The Museum is located in a complex of buildings registered as the landmark of the late XVIII-XX centuries architecture. Muscovites call this old mansion the Osterman House after the name of its former owners. The 1981 Decree of the RSFSR Council of Ministers transferred the building to the All-Russia Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art, which opened to visitors on July 21, 1981. The one and only museum in Russia, united in its collection works of arts and crafts of Russia - from folk art to works by modern artists.The museum organizes guided tours and workshops.

A bit off the beaten track so quiet but well worth visiting. Spectacular collections of exhibits. Has a permanent wonderful display of lacquer boxes and also when we were there a temporary exhibition of ones from Mstera. Temporary exhibition also of lace but unfortunately I missed the exhibition of ivory carvings. Spent hours here and still didn't see everything. Note... More

The exhibition showcases some interesting works of Russian craftmanship, but I found it too centered on recent art and the collection far from complete. The building is a former palace and nice. The place is open till late on some days of the week.
