It is located in the left bank and is the heart of Novgorod. It was very small and made of wood but grew larger and made of bricks because of St.Sophia´s cathedral . An enjoyable place to wander and peace and silence is all around!!!!!!

Wasn't prepared for the size and the neatness of the area nor the drama of its walls and moat, both on the river side and also on the market place side.

Lovely place to visit in the sunshine. Nice park with lots of benches to sit and soak in the atmosphere. There are museums to visit and St Sophia's is worth a look! The area around the Kremlin is also great to explore.

We really enjoyed the Kremlin. The moat and walls are very impressive (Note each of the towers are different from the others). If you visit the Kremlin, I recommend buying a ticket in the bell tower that faces the river. This will let you climb...More

If you're gonna be in Novgorod it would be shame to miss this but it's probably not worth coming here alone. Interesting walk around the kremlin and then across the bridge and around the gardens. Go into the church and see all the ancient paintings...More

... where you feel history, take your time when walking through, enjoy the view, where Wolga and Oka come together, look down the steps of Valerij Ckalov and like the beautiful flower arrangements before you pass the interesting military corner near the Dmitriev-Tower.

Must see, better with a guide. Ours was quite knowledgeable, yet, dedicated too much time to the monument to the Russian State.

Definitely must see in Veliky Novgorod. One of the best Kremlins we've seen in Russia. Very interesting and just nice for walking.

Well maintained fortress by a lake in the old town of Veliky Novgorod. Not so far from St. Petersburg, but communications are slow. Best way to travel is by buss or private car. Travel time around 2,5 hours. Viliky Novgorod was an important town when...More

2 days will give you ample time to see the sites and to relax. Always beneficial with a local guide, but not necessary. I cannot recommend any hotel. Enjoy your stay.
