Just a snake

This is a huge statue and when you see it you realize it is being held up by the back legs of a horse and the snake that wraps around them it is a remarkable piece of sculpture.

Have seen this so many times on the TV. Thought it was bigger than it actually is but a good story behind it. It is situated in a park and quite accessible.

A fabulous statue of Peter the great atop of a massive stone. It is a very impressive statue. The face was made by a woman a fact which is always overlooked. A very impressive sight from all angles. Great for photos.

Located on Senatskaia Ploshchad this impressive statue honours the founder of St Petersburg, Peter the Great. The pedestal is made of a single piece of red granite moulded into the shape of a cliff. From the top of this ‘cliff’ Peter leads Russia forward, while his horse steps on a snake, which represents enemies of Peter and his reforms. Facing... More

Won't take long to view this statue but don't miss it as it's in a great location, near to the River and St.Isaacs Cathedral. An impressive statue that's survived a long time.

Great to get your picture taken under the Great Peter. The base of the statue has it's own name too.

This park and monument to Peter the Great was walking distance from our hotel and had a very nice view of the river.

Significant historically and also a work of art. Unless you are a sculpture aficionado you will probably only spend a few minutes looking at it - but by all means spend a few minutes looking!

Not the II World War or any other war could destroy it. Just a short walk behind St. Issac cathedral. It also offers great view on the river banks.
