Here on Kronverksaya Embankments, just across the Hare Island with its Peter and Paul Cathedral and Fortress, stands proudly this Military Historical Artillery Museum. We saw within this red brick building, made in the shape of letter U, an impressive collection of arms and heavy artillery from the Middle Ages to the present day. There is an open-air exhibition of... More

This is a must for everybody with an interest in artillery from all a ages! This large exhibition covers everything from the early age of artillery, through the war against Napoleon, to the two World Wars and the Cold War era. Many tanks and huge pieces of artillery, as well as surface to air and surface to surface missiles are... More

Impressive display of decades of military activities. There are some information in English but the majority is in Russian. You have to leave your jacket in the wardrobe but it is included in the ticket price. Are you into this before you can easily spend hours here. Even if you are not, some of the parts are fascinating. Worth a... More

This is an excellent museum of the history of artillery. I have never seen so many cannons and guns under the same roof. The exhibits start in early times of sword and mace to the present day of missiles and of course the Russian AK47. There are several floors of exhibits all connected by stairs. I was disappointed there was... More

...then this is definitely the place for you. If you don't speak Russian you won't learn much as the signs and explanations are solely in Russian. However, the arsenal of tanks, rockets, artillery and other warmachines outside the museum is enough to make it worth the visit. They are impressive just by their sheer volume and appearance and I spent... More

After spending a full week in St. Petersburg seeing all the museums and highlights, this was my favorite place to visit. Im a cold war child born in the 60s and seeing all this war hardware displayed to see and touch was incredible. Outside was artillery used by or to defeat or scare enemies from Napoleon till now, even full... More

This museum brings together over 500 years of artillery and other aspects of the military that are often overlooked. The collection is astounding with only God knows how many pieces of artillery, vehicles, swords, and armour and other items. Well worth a visit.

It's pretty obvious when you've got to the right place. Costs 400R entrance, the usual free cloakroom for outside coats & jackets & another 100R to be able to take photos. Toilets (free) just inside entrance men left women right. The WW2 section is on the third floor to the left. There are lots of vehicles & interesting maps &... More

Large assortment of artillery, motorized artillery, troop carriers, and old cannons. Be sure to see the Kalashnikov exhibit and pay extra for the missile exhibit.
