Some of the exhibition halls were closed for renovation/redecoration, but even those that were open were very education and well worth a visit! Get one of the guided tours if you can so you can learn about the exhibits, which are not always well described...More

I went here straight from the Russian museum. The two pair really well. Not much Russian available (I speak a smattering) but the display is fascinating even without any Russian. A great experience after the overwhelming grandeur of other places in the city.

Great details on various ethnicities comprising Russia -- tools, fabrics, icons, costumes, minerals and religions through time. My favorite museum.

Spent a fascinating couple of hours looking at all the exhibits representing the many facets and ethnicities of Russia. The exhibits are comprehensive, and well designed. Was fortunate to be there the day they had an ethnic dance competition. For anyone interested in sociology, this...More

Since I do not read Russian, I had a disadvantage because not all signs are in English. But I found it so interesting to learn so much about all religions, ethnisities in the huge Sovietunion by just walking around and be able to read the...More
