The whole gallery is situated inside an old church, and the iconostasis is still visible from all three levels of the gallery. It is truly amazing to get so close to such incredible woodwork. The third floor contains religious woodwork which UNESCO has declared especially...More

Despite a rather small area the gallery located in a former cathedral building possesses a splendid collection of Russian art of the 15th-20th centuries, including icons and avantguard. The works of almost all pominent Russian painters are represented in the exposition. The European painting collection...More

We spent a lovely afternoon here with my wife's 'friend' Maxine and her husband. Lots of amazing exhibits although Maxine was disappointed to discover that it didn't contain anything to do with Kenny Dalglish's hair! Would definitely recommend

This Gallery houses a fine collection of Russian art from all eras and uses the building very well. I believe the building used to be a church and is grand and imposing. Well worth a visit.

It's a small, but decent place with the unique collection of wooden sculptures of Christ. Some pieces of art are really great. Recommend

Varied collection of Russian and western European paintings and sculptures, unique collection of "wooden gods" ....All this is, sadly, undermined by the continuously unsettled case with the local Russian orthodox church, the original owner of the building who wants to reclaim it and the local...More

There are lots of restaurants and cafes at a walking distance from the gallery in Komsomolsky prospect and Sovetskaya Street with an avarage bill from 350 (for example, Shokoladnitsa) to 1500 rub (La Bottega).
