A great historical site to visit which covers historical events of both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Cost is free, but donations are appreciated. Wonderful family activity with historical reenactment offered throughout the year.

Another great place that interacts with the public. They don't just let it sit there like a shrine not to be touched. Open and welcoming. Just a great place to go and learn .

The Malcolm Blue Farm is a must for families. You are taking back to the days of your ancestors (if you are a native). Don't miss the museum. It's really fascinating. The volunteer docents are really great and are a wealth of knowledge.

Malcolm Blue Farm is tons of fun, you should go for the Malcolm Blue Farm Days when they have demonstrations etc. It is usually when it is very hot so I have only gone once but it was worth the trip.
