This is a beautiful, tranquil garden-park, the main feature of which is the 3,240 seat octagon-shaped memorial hall/auditorium. It was constructed between 1929 and 1931 in memory of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, noted for being a great forerunner of the Chinese revolution. This essential concert hall type building has width of 71 metres, height of 52 metres, and no pillars. The... More

The beauty of this building and especially the beautiful garden, full of colours and flowers, really hit me. The inside part is interesting too, a theatre that can be visited also walking to the stage section

The Memorial Hall is set in a beautiful and peaceful park and often there are performances in the grounds. An indoor visit is worthwhile to learn about the struggle to give birth to the People's Republic.

I worked in Guangzhou in October and November 2016 for four weeks. You can walk to the Dr. Sun Yatsen Memorial Hall from the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees in about 15 minutes. In Chinese it is also called Zhongshan. The park is beautiful and peaceful. Very beautiful flowers and you can sit and relax on the benches. There... More

It looks so much nicer from outside than inside. Entrance costs 10 yuan, but there is nothing much inside. Its like a museum/ a story how the building was build and why also some history about the Guangzhou. Most of the things are in Chinese and I believe that not all of them were translated to English. Outside park is... More

This is an interesting site with history of China's first elected President and dabbling into democracy. The historical context is written on the wall and takes some time to read through. Such an important and historical memorial of an Era for China merits funding to equip and update the site with Audio and Video display in languages other than Mandarin.... More

Dr. Sun is an important political figure in 20th Century China politics credited for overthrowing the Qing Dynasty and also a native to Guangdong. It is a nicely kept garden for his political significance. His old home is in Zhongshan named after him near Macau. Other than that it is a nice garden with some buildings and statutes. And there...
