My 3 year old was able to climb the steps up to the top and the views were great of the Li river. Worth a quick visit

While it appears that you you can climb the hill on our rainy day we appreciated touring the small cave complex with the intricate carvings and displays. We didn’t spend too long there due to the weather, but was still a nice stop on our day-tour.

Pretty nice area overall. Lots of people selling typical souvenirs at the entrance. Named after a general from a long past dynasty that fought off the Vietnamese and impressed the locals of Guilin. There are several places to see inside this attraction. There are caves, the Sword-Testing Stone, an area where Buddhas were carved into the wall, an area for praying in the cave with other gods, and a great view from the top of the hill. It is an isolated limestone peak that has a great view of Guilin. It is about 20-30 sweaty minutes up to the top, but well worth the view. Only reason we gave it 4/5 was because we felt sad for the tortoise that was kept in the cave in a small enclosure for petting (money-making) purposes. Otherwise it is a great place to visit.

Only a small summit. The main reason for visiting this mountain is for it's historical and cultural background. There are about 300 Buddhist stone carvings here dating back to the Tang Dynasty. One is a Taoist carving, the only single one amongst them all, you can try to find it. There is also some history regarding the true story of a Han princess during the Qing (Manchurian) Dynasty. It's a very well known story since a novel about it was turned into a massively popular drama series about 10 years back.
60RMB for a Fubo + Diecai combo ticket, so not too expensive.

A real Guilin highlight! Carved from the rock, the detail is simply extraordinary! Go early in the morning to avoid the humidity, and try and go on a sunny, CLEAR day. The view is stunning! Wear sneakers/trainers/hiking boots for the 10min climb to the top, and take water with you. Don't forget to check out Sword Testing Rock and Thousand Buddha Cave.

Park is open and free after 7pm.
You can't see as much but there are very few people and not so hot.

In the hill is a shrine to Buddhism which is also an active religious site. Please mind their customs and do not take pictures where it specifies. There is even a fortune teller beneath the shrine for Buddhists to go and have their fortunes read. It’s very interesting if you get the chance to see it happen. It’s also a good look at how the Cultural Revolution impacted some of China’s important religious sites as you can see that all of the faces of Buddha are much newer than the rest of the sculpture. It is because Chairman Mao had the faces destroyed and they were later rebuilt. It’s a long and hot hike up a bunch of stairs to the top but you will be rewarded with some amazing views of the city.

This 'attraction' should be renamed 'Fooled you hill'. This is a 200m high hill in the middle of a busy town. Climbing to the top up a narrow stone staircase rewards you with a view of the town and the river. It is ok but could not be described as picturesque. Underneath the hill are some very plain caves with a few Buddha carvings and souvenir stalls. We visted Guilin in mid September and the air was very hazy, reminded us of the semi permanent smog cloud over Beijing although it could have been due to some other climatic phenomenon. Overall we were very unimpressed.

From the Pedestrian street we strolled north along the river and ended up at Fubo Hill. The park is very nice and well kept.
The climb up the hill had many steps, but there were a few benches along the way to stop to catch your breath and admire the view on the ascend up. The views from the top were great even though it was a foggy day.
We discovered we could be a park pass with our local teacher's ID, 10 entrances for only 10 Yuan!
We never did find the entrance to the caves even though there were signs???
