This is a large area located right next to the wild goose pagoda. the key highlight here is the light and water fountain show. While the show is available on the hour from day to night it is best to catch it in the evening.
Set against the backdrop of the wild goose pagoda, the show is pretty spectacular. The water fountains are spread across an area about 600 meters long and 50 meters wide. The fountains literally dance to the music, and the accompanying lights are a sight to watch. The show last for about 15 minutes.
Other than The light show the courtyard is also an area where older folks gather to dance and exercise. There are also bronze sculptures portraying life back then spread across the courtyard.

Area inside Pagoda was nice, and you can walk up the 6 floors for some nice views. Outside, there is a very modern and nice park, plenty of food options and malls nearby and the water fountain show in the evening plus the illuminations / lighting makes for a special atmosphere. Worth seeing and walked the area both day and night, staying in the Westin which is right next to the Pagoda.

If you are in Xi'an you HAVE to check out the musical fountain located in the square of the Pagoda. It's the largest fountain of its type in Asia and is truly spectacular. Here is the schedule for the fountain's musical show (so you can plan your trip accordingly): Mon-Fri: 12pm and 8:00pm. Sat-Sun: 12:00pm - 10:00pm, every 2 hours. The show will last 30 minutes.
I have to give a shoutout to our guide Lily from EmmasTours.com who found this info for us to post. Thanks Lily! :)
Another interesting fact she wold us was that it costs the city around 5,000 RMB (roughly $800) in electricity per show! But, I guess they can do that, since they DO own the electric company. ;)

The fountain show at 8 pm is awesome. The only thing is when the wind blows your way, you are screwed.
We, me and my boyfriend were soaking wet after the show. We walked away after we got the hardest "rain". But it was very warm that day so we dried in 30 min.
Nice tip, the first noodle under the sun has quite nice food for good value.

Just over a week ago while inXi'an I went to the Da yan Pagoda.I had to pay an entrance fee of a bout 40 yuan from memory,But it was well worth a visit.IThe Pagoda is very ancient and interesting.I took many photos. The staff on site were mostly very friendly and helpful. In the park outside there are spectacular fountains. An on site photographer took a beautiful lsouvenir photo of me for only about 10 CNY. Don't miss the Da yan ta Pagoda in Xi'an! Andrew

The pagoda and surrounding gardens are interesting enough but check the timing of the evening show and you will be delighted by the combination of fountains, music and light......and the impromptu performances by locals.
Worth doing while in Xi’an.

This is a long walk, but you will enjoy it, just keep circumnavigating the Pagoda.
Lights everywhere, plus water fountains, plus local families from grand parents to toddlers, enjoying themselves.
Totally safe and no one bothers you.
To sit and watch the synchronised dancing is almost as relaxing as doing it.
A wonderful way to end an evening out in Xi'an.

We stayed at the Ibis and caught bus No. 41 from across the road (1 rmb/ person) stay on until the end of the road then use the underpass to access the park (fountain), we spent an hour or so strolling around the inside of the pagoda, if you have seen other temples or pagodas then there is no real need to spend to 50 rmb to get in. What you must see is the fountain show we saw the 12 midday show, lasts for 30 minutes and is free to watch, there is also one at 8pm which we didn't get to see, but from what I understand it is even more spectacular due to lighting effects. Definite must see in Xi'an

What time does the fountain light show start? I don't want to get there too early and wait too long as I have a 3 year old with me!

Hello guys,
is the fountain show also in January/February in every evening?

How easy is it to get around in this area of Xian .. is it safe to walk, and is it easy to get a taxi?
Written April 10, 2017
Good morning, Yes to all your questions. This is an area that easily accessible and where you can find easy transportation around. I recommend that you ask your Concierge for Subway access and other means. Have a fun trip to this very lovable city. There is more to Xi'an than the "Terracotta". Enjoy
