So many unique historical cultural features are only found in Shaanxi history museum, even you can't see those features in Peking or elsewhere of China. The city is 13 glorious dynasties capital in past thousands of years. I highly recommended if you visit Xian where you must to go, it is easy to go by subway and exit A walk... More

We visited this museum on 20th April. It is very interesting for those who are interested in ancient Chinese history and culture. It is huge and you will need minimum 2 hours to walk through briefly. For those who can afford the time and would like to view display more in depth, even 4 hours would not be enough. Two... More

Very good place to visit if you wanted a quick Chinese historical lesson in 3 hours. Beautiful and fascinating artifacts. The museum offers limited free tickets per day so you can imagine the crowds. But you can easily pay 30RMB for a ticket and you won't have to queue for the free ticket.

Very impressive museum in Xi'an, spend almost an entire day here (also because of the rain). Had an amazing volunteer guide us who spoke perfect English and had lots of knowledge about almost everything in the museum. If Chinese (and Xi'an) history interest you this is a must see.

A packed small museum with many artefacts. The audio guide offers little more than the captions. It's very full and poorly lit so difficult to get a sense of the history. Best part was the treasures of the Tang Dynasty in room 4(?) where there was also an interesting film about the origin of the treasure.

We tried to visit about 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. The line for tickets was so long we had to miss it. Disappointing.

First of all, it's FREE! And you will learn how each dynasty develop the culture and acknowledge the history of China. I really like when they put story from room 1-2-3 in order and tell the story by the timeline. I spend 2-3 hours there before walking to the big wild goose pagoda. It was a great place to start... Old and historic artefacts found in this museum dating back to thousands of years BC. There is a general storyline of the main dynasties flowing through the exhibits. Very knowledgeable museum guide in Mandarin language.

Entry to the Shaanxi History Museum is FREE. Just present passport at the Free Ticket Counter to collect the entrance ticket. But be prepared to go early in the morning to queue up to get the tickets. There are lots of things & artifacts on display. This is the Right place to learn about the History of China from Xia,... We went to the museum in the afternoon and had no problem with crowds. There was a line for the free tickets for those over 65. (they cost 30 rmb) You need to bring your passport to get in. We rented head phones. Some of the collection had good English descriptions so they are not absolutely necessary. the We took... More
