Bypass the crowds who are queuing for free entry, head to the empty ticket counter, pay RMB30 and head inside. Start at the top floor and work your way down because the hoards all start at the ground floor. Got too crowded for my liking (Saturday AM) so I only stayed an hour.

Almost everything you need to know in one spot. Just be very patient, even in the off season this place is packed, but it's well worth the effort.

The museum is located next to Xian Small Wild Goose Pagoda, still in the same area. There are so many ancient, especially the history from Bronze Age dynasty and era. The original statue from Terracotta Army, Buddist, Ming dynasty also the original city map there.

We caught a taxi from our hotel to the museum. You are delivered to the door BUT BEWARE you won't get a taxi back as the ones at the front are all pre booked. We left about 4.30pm which is Xi'an rush hour. It is free to get into the museum. We lined up with the local people who have... More

They give out free tickets 3000 each in the morning and afternoon for Chinese identification holders. You can also purchase at 30rmb. For as least as 100¥(Chinese) 150¥(English) you can hire a tour guide at the counter that can entertain up to 10 people. It is a must for a professional to explain to you the importance of each Dynasty... More

We went to this museum first thing in the morning, having already booked tickets online. Once we reached the museum itself it was a nightmare-there was an immense queue outside in the pouring rain, since the place had already booked out before it had even opened. Now I'm not saying this is a bad thing but if the place was... More
