It is located behind the Small Goose Pagoda, with fewer visitor and free of charge. Though it is much smaller than the provincial museum in Xian, but it is quite interesting to view the model of old Xian in the basement.

Four stories of a large collection of artifacts and works of art gave us the impression of the old china and its connection to the rest of the world.

start in basement and work your way up. a lot of the explanations are in chineese. However there is an app(never got it to work) and you can get a english speaking guide(not there when I was there). the museum is fantastic , has art works of Jade that rival those seen in Shanghai at the museum. Not to be... More

The museum is free and has galleries with exhibition on 2 floors. The first floor showed sculptures of Budha through the different dynasties. The second floor has 3 galleries: one is about Chinese history but has not a single English explanation (too bad has it would be informative to know how they describe in the 21st century the cultural revolution),... You have to pay for this part of the museum - but it is really worth the money. The murals on display are so different from the fakes in the tombs!

The museum is located adjacent to the small wild goose pagoda, so it is easy to visit both sites without additional travel time. As for the museum, it contains several levels with interesting historical exhibits. One of the main attractions of the building is the multicolored inlaid map of Xi'an and surrounding area. Go up to the top level and... More

The Xi'an Museum was solid museum experience - hard to have, as most museums in China are usually always crowded and noisy. Besides being not crowded, it provides a good break from the sun & heat, and is also adjacent to the Small Goose Pagoda; with it's surrounding gardens. Relatively small, it's not overwhelming or too repetitive. Overall a decent... More

Interesting, focused on just this part of China. Nice artifacts. At about this point it matters as to how much of a museum crawler you are. Nice and cool snide on a hot, humid day.
