I don t like zoos but this one is even worse. But you don t go there because of the zoo. It s one of the oldest parks in Kunming and a must to see. If you have luck it s spring and everything is flourishing.

Some of the big cats and bears are kept in small cages and are in a very bad state Pacing up and down Their tiny cage and the bear was just sitting rocking back and forward. My 2 daughters were very sad to see animals kept like this.

First time that I visited a zoo in China and felt so so soon sorry for the animals. Big animals in such small spaces. It was so sad. Massive crowd the day we went though I expect it is the same everyday. Dirty! Good variety of species but not at all well looked after. I really hope the government does... More

Went to this zoo when i was strolling through the city of Kunming. First time i went to a zoo in China and defeniteley also my last. Really small and old cages, especially the part with the big cats, bears and wolves. Also the chinese visitors are rude to the animals. Big disapointment

This ZOO got me intrigued and I visited it mostly out of curiousity of seeing a Zoo in China. It was during public holiday season (1-7th October), so it was full. Overall Zoo looks less up to western standards, but I enjoyed it for it is maintained well. If the behavior of chinese people screaming at animals and clapping at... More

I'm not a person for zoos in the 1st place but I had to see how these animals are being treated. It's a sad place if you have morals for animals the only thing that seems to be happy in the zoo is the ducks. The other animals seem to have gone cage mad. There are a lot better zoos... More

The entrance is at the busy road intersection and it is a paid entry attraction. The entire setup, is on the hill and the other side of the hill, is the Yuantong Temple, which you can view from the Zoo or getting there, by walking around the hill. In my opinion, if you have the time, just do it as... More

The zoo reflects the general attitude of the China to animal welfare. It is horrible - from the sad caged animals to the mobs of noisy tourists to the litter to the tourists throwing human food and other objects at the animals.

Don't have to see the animals in March... The blooming of the flowers will surely blow you away. With the clear blue sky and white cloud ... A few hundred pictures is what I toke on the 3 hours stroll in the Zoo. Did not even see the animals ,,,, May be on the next trip.
