To Longjing Tea Village or Qiantang River
4.0 of 5 bubblesSept 2019
One way to get to "Jiuxi Yanshu" 九溪烟树 (literally "Nine Creeks in Misty Forest") is by entering "YangMeiLing" 杨梅岭 village gate (Bus#87 2 times an hour on ManJueLong Road 满觉陇路) then go downhill along QianLong Road 乾龙路 for 30 minutes, eventually walking on a tree-lined cobblestone path along the stream. Next to the parking lot, there's a pond and a small waterfall with quite a few visitors even on a weekday - this is where a lot of people park their cars to take photos. Going up some steep steps past the waterfall brings you to a pavilion - no views up here. Past the restaurant/shop and bathroom towards Longjing Village (famous for Dragon Well tea) brings you to "Jiuxi 18 Streams" 九溪十八澗. This beautiful cobblestone walk along the stream takes less than an hour to reach Longjing Village, with tea plantations on hill slopes and stepping stones to walk across lovely little streams. No cars in this section and it's not very busy with local farmers occasionally selling fruit. Around Longjing Village are many minor sights like small caves and the tea museum - not very impressive but pleasant when not crowded on weekdays. Another path from "Jiuxi Yanshu" 九溪烟树 is along Jiuxi Road 九溪路, a tree-lined paved road next to the stream with some walking paths passing through tea fields - a little busier here with cars going by. There are restaurants and tea houses halfway as well as a public toilet. It takes just half an hour to reach QianTang River 钱塘江 which is next to a busy road where the bus station "JiuXi Station" 九溪站 is. Both are very easy walks, nearly flat all the way. There are many boutique inns and guesthouses around here with amazing views of tea fields, especially nice around "YangMeiLing" 杨梅岭 village (where I stayed for 3 nights) and "ManJueLong" 满觉陇 which is filled with hip cafes - many hiking paths around this whole area also. I'm normally not a fan of travelling in China as it can be quite stressful with noisy crowds but this is a lovely getaway... probably best to avoid any Chinese national holidays or weekends though. It's surrounded by nature yet very easy to get a cab here likely because of the close proximity to West Lake.

This is a very popular place for the locals. It is a shady place with very shallow streams where kids can play inside the water.

Come prepared wearing swimming gear as the waters are very inviting.

I also like the fact that this path leads to famous Longjin green tea plantation so it's killing two birds with a stone.

I bicycle or hike through Jiuxi very often. This place can be reached from Qiantang river side (bus 4, 287, 504 stops there) or from Longjing village, then walk down to end of village, pass through Nine Creeks area until you reach the pond with small waterfall. Waterfall is artificial and not always running. Jiuxi use to be crowded during weekends and it is also place where young couples taking their romantic wedding pictures. Hangzhou families with children enjoy shade and play in the streams during hot summer. There are also a few restaurants, barbecue and fishing places along Jiuxi road. Comparing to my first visit 4 years ago the Jiuxi is now much more known and touristy, also more polluted by noise from cars and visitors but it is still beautiful piece of nature. Definitely worth to go.

I went on April 12, 2015 and it was a beautiful day. I came because I was lured by pics uploaded to Baidu's travelling page and I just had to come!. I started from the southern entrance (Bus no. 4 takes you here) and took me two hours to hike through Jiuxi. There were plenty of tea plantations that go all the way up the hills, small restaurants, beautiful streams where couples came for picnics and wedding shoots - it was a very relaxing and atmospheric place. It took me about one hour to get from the southern entrance to the main attraction (Jiu xi 18 streams).

The scenery was so beautiful that I can't use words to describe it. It looks so unreal. The color of the water and trees....I totally understand why some couples picked that area for wedding shoots. it's like heaven on earth.

All the tourists in Hangzhou come mainly for West Lake. West Lake is beautiful in all four seasons and I really enjoyed my day at West Lake. But not a lot of people know about Jiu xi and honestly, they're missing out!!!

The correct name of the place is 9 streams 18 ponds. It's not too far from the West lake area. The taxi does take people there. From West Lake area you will need to go up then down the mountain. If you live near the 1st bridge (of the main river) it will be only a few minutes drive.
The place is located in the middle of the valley between the mountains surrounded West Lake. A nice water stream flowing along the small mountain road from West Lake to the place, where eventually it stop at this attraction. It is said that a total of 9 water streams all flowing into a system of 18 ponds, though we did not manage to find them.
The water stream was very nice, especially during these hot summer days (unbearable in Hanghzou during summer), so it was a nice get away. Most Chinese tourist don't know this place, so it is only local (Hangzhou people) would come here, so it was not crowded at all.
But that's about it, a nice place to get away from the hot weather. Not much else.

The most beautiful scenary I see of Hangzhou is Jiuxi 18 Stream, not West Lake. One day in July, 2014, I went to visit Longjin village. I just drop by and see Jiuxi 18 Stream. What surprises me is that the scenery of it is so fabulous. It is made of nine converging streams, so it’s called Jiuxi. The steams go through green hills and valleys, collecting numerous small streams, so it is named Jiuxi 18 Streams. Hearing the water tumbling over the rocks, the wind sweeping through the woods, listening to the birds, smelling the freshness of grass, this makes me brighten up.

I went on a weekend. Traffic wasn't the best and there were too much people to really enjoy this beautiful place. I will come back on a quieter place to really take in the view of this place

We came here after our trip to the picturesque Longjin Tea Fields. We were already had enough of the crowded lake and figured we’d give the 18 Stream a try. Were we wrong! It was less crowded than West Lake but the crowds were ever-present and made for a disaster side trip. It’s definitely not worth coming here or to Hangzhou during Golden Week. It looks like it has hope if you come during off peak season.

Jiuxi 18 streams is a developing attraction, so not crowded with people. There is public transport route no. 4 goes to this place. You can get off at “Jiuxi” station. The place was so fresh, green and original as other reviewers said. Many Longjin tea tree farms there.

On the day we visited, at the spot Jiuxi Yanshu (九溪煙樹) we saw 4 pairs of couple having pre-wedding photo shoot there can tell how beautiful the place is. Along this place, you can visit also the LiAnn Monastery and Longjin village. I have talked to the villager there, the restaurants there are for tourist. If you are looking for good food, go somewhere else.
