A famous and outstanding building in the city centre near Odori Park and Sapporo Station. There is a brief history shown in the museum. A good place for photo taking. I love the small garden near the building.

The Gardens surrounding this building are well maintained with an eclectic collection of trees, bridges and architectural features and several ponds filled with massive and colourful Koi. On weekends the site is often filled with cultural events like the annual Hokkaido Kabocha or Pumpkin Festival.

Good selection of Japanese food stalls and local produce for shopping, tea break, lunch and snack. Picked oysters and scallops which tasted yummy.

Not really worth a detour to visit but if you are in the area, the gardens are a nice place to visit especially in Autumn. Pretty place for a stroll

Another "icon" of Sapporo. Pleasant place to visit and take a stroll as well as get a glimpse of Sapporo's past. Very pretty during the day as well as night.

This was a nice building to walk around after sunset to get nice pictures. It's lit up very well with large lights.

The building gives a good perspective of the development aspirations of the city's elders at the end of the 19th century. It also houses some interesting exhibits about Japan's history, as well as about the territories Japan lost to the Soviet Union in 1945. However,...More

A very common Western style historical building that is not well maintained. The wall paper was peeling off with water damage. There is very little English information to read about the building either. Free entrance.

To me I would of thought it was a few hundred years old. But built in 1888, beautiful spot to just sit and look at flowers and chat as well. I enjoyed it

Budy I was there in January. It is winter time so everything is covered with snow. Not sure about the Cherry blossom in May though.
