This is world heritage site in Kyoto. You can usually enjoy autumn color later than other shrines. They have Japanese style cafe in the site.

This is not one of the top ten attractions but I personally liked it. I spent around 2 hours going around this not so crowded place. It is 6 minutes walk from the nearest station and is beautiful with a little pond.

It took several minutes to walk from the bus stop to get here. Then, it took another few minutes to walk the long path to get to the shrine. Some of the TripAdvisor reviewers for this place incorrectly called it a temple. They do not...More

The temple is located in a forested area in northern area of Kyoto. It was mostly Japanese tourists when I visited and definitely a respite from the other sites packed with foreign tourists. Calm and relaxing.

As all over Kyoto there are crowds or tourists and tourist buses, but the shrine did not seem overrun. Well worth a look in its forested setting.

Worth the trip out of town and the hike was fun. Would recommend it. There were people who were cycling. The Bamboo forest was impressive - I kept looking for Pandas.

After a while in Kyoto, it is nice to get away from the crowds. This impressive Shinto shrine was not deserted, but there was plenty of personal space available to enjoy the spacious grounds. Probably shouldn't be at the top of your list of attractions,...More

Kyoto is so lucky to have so many world heritage sites. This was one of my favorite shrines because its very big and there is space to move about. Its not as crowded as the other places we went to but every bit as lovely.

Very big shrine! Not so many tourists come here, so you can walk around and enjoy the religious atmosphere.

This is just a lovely shrine. Not really out of the way, but tourists don't think about it because it isn't one of the "fancy" shrines. But walk from Central Kyoto along the Kamogawa and follow the river at it's fork into the park that...More
