Very quaint, short cobblestoned alley with preserved traditional wooden and stone houses on both sides that house very private bars and restaurants. Nice to walk in the evening, and a pleasant shortcut between Kodai-ji and Gion.

Really cool place to spend an afternoon eating and shopping. Each shop offers something different and there seemed to be something for everyone. Definitely worth a visit.

Visit here armed with the Kyoto map downloaded and you'll have no trouble finding this beautiful place. (The word "alley" conjures up somewhere dirty and awful but this really could be the prettiest alley ever.) It's only minutes away from the more popular parts of...More

Side streets and alleys through Kyoto and the Gion district offer so many opportunities to explore, get lost and discover something new. It offers you a chance to meet and see people. So take a deep breath, smile and enjoy the culture! You won't be...More

Such a wonderful old street to walk . In a way it felt like I was either back in time or on a movie set . Beautiful wooden fences...so peaceful.
