We found this place while exploring Gion. Nice place to shoot a photo but nothing to really write home about. If you want to see something similar, i would recommend the HIgashima District instead.

The stone-paved streets of this little alley are lined with small restaurants and ryokan. There are lovely plantings on many of the walls. It is a peaceful, beautiful detour. I'm glad we found it.

Very beautifuk place in the prettiest neighbouhood of the city. Full of ochayas, just take a look of their openjng times before you go, they close during the day.

We loved Kyoto, it just had a good feel to it. The Ishibe Alley was closed whilst we were in Kyoto but we did speak with a local lady that was organising to bring it back to it's former bustling self.

We just took this little detour while we were in the area of "Northern Higashiyama". It is a very unique little alley and worth a visit!

I love small alleyways especially if they are traditional ones in Kyoto. Just walking down the narrow street without any cars in sight is a delight.

We travelled along these alley-ways on our walk between Gion and Kodaiji - great example of old style buildings and the narrow streets from an older era.
