The manga museum was high on my list of things to see in Kyoto but turned out to be more of a library then a museum. A library filled with Japanese manga at that. The site had three, maybe four exhibits in total. Two of...More

This is NOT a museum. This is a library with rows & rows of books that can be read. No original art. Not worth the money or travel unless you want to sit & read.

I had a totally different idea in my head about the place upon my arrival. As an anime and manga fan I expected the embodiment of my interest to be a geeky, otaku-ish shrine like, instead I found a library. Sure there were some exhibitions...More

We came here for my Manga loving daughter. Arrived at 10.30, and made sure we were first in the queue for the Anime portraits, painted/drawn by a local artist. The artist took 30 mins to draw three of us, and we were delighted with the...More

I left this museum with mixed feelings of joy, nostalgic feeling of my childhood and fully inspired to pursue my drawing hobby. It was a great experience for manga lovers, art lovers, for those who admire this Japanese culture. They have 200.000 manga collection which...More

This turned out to be a library then a museum. Very tiny selection of translated manga's available. For us it was a waste of time and money.

If you really like Manga, you cannot miss this museum. It is plenty of books ( almost like a library). You can really feel what Manga means for the Japanese culture.

This manga museum mostly contains walls upon walls of translated manga. There were a lot of people sitting down reading. It did have a few permanent exhibits such as a small overview of manga, one with plaster copies of artists' hands and a history of...More

It's rather a library than a museum. Most of the visitors just sit around reading manga. That's all it is. Shelf after shelf of manga comics and people sitting around reading it. If this sounds appealing to you it's a must see.

The museum is basically a library of manga (= comics), where visitors are allowed to read the exposed cartoons. The explanations and exhibitions are not too impressive for non-japanese speakers, and personally I didn't get much enlightened on japanese comics. But... it was fascinating to...More

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its
blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered
shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street
bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to
peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home
goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center
is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of
