The station was visit at noon as it was the cherry blossom season. There are some shops selling food, snacks, etc, near the entrance to this station. There is also a information office here.

This is a small train/tram station. It is surrounded by lots of shops as well as a "kimono alley" which is very pretty.

Unfortunately we came here on a Saturday (but I can imagine it's the same on any day), the place was packed with tourists and visitors... But nevertheless it was nice to see the town and the surrounds whilst we were in the area.. Plenty of...More

I had my head buried in a guidebook, reading about my destination — Tenryu-Ji Temple— when admiring exclamations filled the Randen Railway car. It had entered Arashiyama Station, the end stop for the temple, and an amazing kimono forest greeted passengers. Hundreds of cylinder-shaped poles,...More

It is s small train station but well decorated with many different kimono stands which make it stand out. There are a few shops and we have our breakfast at Tully cafe.

This place is kind of a tourist trap. Things are more expensive and provides nothing interesting or worth buying. The fish/prawn or whatever fried cakes they offer is horrible. Don't buy.

this handy little train station has one feature most haven't talked about...benches. It was good to sit down for a moment. There are lots of little restaurants in here, and shops. The cute little purple train will take you back towards the JR line, or...More

The small tourist train station is very small with a few shops and a plaza at the frontage. However the area is nicely decorated with kimonos design and becomes lively and attractive. A small footbath is also available there for use by visitors free of...More

After walking around the park, monkey mountain, and bamboo forest all day, there was nothing better than soaking our feet for 20-30mins while relaxing on the train platform. Buy a ticket from the visitors center in the station, it comes with a towel too. Make...More

It is a simple station compared to many others in Japan. Located by the Hozugawa river. There is a shopping / food arcade. The key draw would be the kimono forest which in the day isn't that special but when it lights up at night...More
