The vast majority of the temple complex, including the five story pagoda, is free to see. And since it's only #15 on here, the crowds stay away. Go for it!
About Ninna-ji Temple

One of the most beautiful shrines in Kyoto which requires at least a couple of hours to see everything around here.
Catch the 59 bus and do the Ninna-ji, Rohana-ji and Golden Pavilion together. The busses come every 10 minutes and follow the route of the temples perfectly. You can buy a bus card for a few hundred Yen and hop on and off all day....More
It was totally covered when I arrived and will be until 2019 I think. You can see how its built on huge wooden stilts but you cant see its majestic outside construction on the mountainside. Disappoint after the hard climb through the tourist of Gion
There are sveral place you don not have to miss in Japan and Ninna-ji Temple is one of these. Next to other shrins ans temples and easy to get there
Very beautiful. The pagoda on the site is just magnificent. Like all the temples worth will looking at. Hours can be lost here. So if you have others to see keep an eye on the time.
Dress comfortable as walking is necessary to see everything on offer. I visited the temple as part of half day tour. Always great with English speaking tour guide and local knowledge/history chats.
