My first onsen experience so I was very nervous, but the staff are lovely and the facilities excellent. I really recommend trying it, something so traditional and so Japanese, not to be missed out on.

Not sure. Can't speak for the ladies side of the onsen but the men's side was totally nude. The onsen is separated by sexes. It isn't co-ed.
