The owner is a very nice man and even though he doesn’t really speak English, he can make himself clear and really tries to help you. He makes the knives himself, which was the reason for us to get the knives here and not from...More

Amazing real-deal Japanese knife from a true craftsman! Stainless/high-carbon sandwich. Get the ones with the wooden handles as he made these himself. As someone who enjoys cooking it’s great to have a solid (it’s heavy!) tool and a memory to last a lifetime.

The man spoke very little English but knew the key words and communicated through drawings. He engraved my surname on my knife (in Japanese of course) and walked me through how to take care of it. Really glad with my purchase and the experience.

Good value but left handed knives may not be available. Vendor takes time with customers. Worth a visit if you go to the nearby Shibori Museum as well.

FYI, cash only, but well worth it!!! If you want a souvenir (that also happens to be useful) from Japan, this is the place! It is a very small shop with knives handmade by the owner, a very friendly man who speaks little English. He...More

I used to think that Germany produced the best knives until I tried these. I have purchased 3 knives now over the past 2 years and can only rave about them. They really do stay sharp and are beautiful authentic Japanese craftsmanship pieces as well....More

No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its

is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
