Well worth a visit and it has lots of information on previous Japanese wars and social history. It is well worth a visit.

You will have a good view of castle here. Good place to take picture. Crowded most of the time full with tourist and students (both time when I visit).

It's a small park, mostly dirt, some trees, but a sh*t ton of Chinese tourists. Being noisy, spitting and pushing people everywhere.

Not much to this large space surrounding Osaka Castle, but a nice stroll on your way there. Lots of green space, and shade trees along the way.

Anytime from April through to June as far as the weather goes. Timing wise, early in the morning is less crowded so I would aim to get there around opening time to mid-day.
