    Fantastic aquarium
Probably the best aquarium I've been to. Great floor plan, vast array of aquatic life. Our 18 month old has never been so excited. We got there at opening, but probably would have been wiser to wait a little for the crowds to die down.

    Amazing aquatic adventure!
A wonderful aquarium. You start at the top and spiral down through the exhibits. So many aquatic animals to see. Lots of seating available. Live feedings and interactive aspects as well. The gift shop is on the bottom floor, there is a smaller one above it, don’t be fooled into thinking that’s the only one.

Great way to spend a few hours!
Having travelled and snorkeled in many places I wasn't sure if this would be interesting enough...there is just so much to do in Japan as a first time to the country visitor... I enjoyed this - tons of exhibits and clearly something more local folks do than just tourists. Enjoyed it! If you have kids - I think it would be a great choice.

    Impressive Aquarium! Must see spot
Our visit to the Osaka aquarium was amazing. We were floored by the exhibits and variety of animals on display. Our family of four (10 and 13 y.o.) came away so impressed. We have been to excellent zoos and aquariums in multiple countries and we were not disappointed in the least. The main tank- which you can views at various levels- will blow you away. The exhibits all featured beautiful displays that were often very deep and allowed different perspectives of the habitats. The only downsides was the ticket entry process (either by online via QR code or wait an hour for in line cashiers didn’t make much sense) and the crowds. On the day we went it didn’t seem overwhelming but in many cases the perspective of the tanks is such that if you’re not right up against the glass you might not see much due to crowds. A small detail perhaps but be advised.

    Book Online
I went to Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan in a blistering hot day in September. I did not book online and that was a mistake. Upon buying my ticket I learned that I could not enter for over 2 hours. So I recommend buying online!! I had to spend the next 2 hours waiting in a shopping complex with a food court nearby. This was ok but pretty boring and no really amazing shops. There was very big crowd and it is hard to see through the glass at times because of the number of people but it is an impressive place with very large and deep pools - dolphins, sharks, jellyfish and even 2 very large whale sharks. I preferred the Osaka Zoo but still had a good time.

    A healing space
It's a place where you can see sea animals that you want to go no matter how old you are and you can be healed and study. It's a place where you can enjoy even if you go with your lover, family, etc. There are a lot of souvenirs, so you can buy them and go home.

Decent but tank sizes and design are alarming
Nice place to chill if you are going with your partner. There were couples, families, kids, lots of different people here. I wont recommend spending more than 2 hours here though. It is a little alarming how small some of the enclosures are, given how big the complex looks externally. I was hoping that there will be more ringed seal exhibits, and shows where we can watch feeding of the ringed seals. I must admit, I have been to better aquariums. There is a nice cafe in the aquarium with reasonable prices, and very nice matcha ice cream.

    It's a decent aquarium
Being in California and having been to Monterey Bay, it's hard for this aquarium to measure up. It is much less crowded and cheaper though. It has a variety of species to see and kids seemed to love it. I went just after 5 pm, they do some sort of night environment where they play music and light it differently than the day I hear. Ticket window person spoke English and asks what country you're from. Near the giant ferris wheel too.

    Whales sharks and lots more
You might not think of going to an aquarium during your trip to Japan but you can see whale sharks here and it was a fun afternoon with a bit less crowd. 2 hrs is good. There is a tour of the harbor option along with your aquarium ticket and the boat was big. We did not have time for that but wish we did. Tons of shopping a huge food court next door.

Pleasant trip at the aquarium and the surroundings
We visited Osaka Aquarium for holiday and the kids loved it. Unfortunately the great barrier reef was still under construction. If you want to go, you should check whether it is already finished. However, the rest of the experience was great. They had a wide variety of animals. The seals were especially entertaining, they were very curious and might get close to the glass to observe you before floating away again, the kids loved them. The white side dolphins were also cute. The highlight would be the whale sharks, they just reminded me of destiny from Finding Dory, and very lovely. Each station would have a stamping station for the kids, you can get it from the staff at the beginning of the journey. Once you're out they had a mini souvenir shop that was very crowded, don't spend too much time there, because they have a bigger souvenir shop downstairs as you exit. They have a small snack stall opposite starbucks near the exit that sell very good pretzel dogs, and a cute bento with a whale shark shape. Next door there's a plaza with many great shops, restaurants and a food court. Also legoland inside. Overall it was a pleasant trip.

You could easily spend hours here as the aquarium is beautifully laid out for yiu to walk and sit and just enjoy the exhibits!

Some of these exhibits (e.g. the seals, dolphins, penguins) provide you with wonderful views of above and below the ocean so you could see them leap above the water and dive below the ocean! At every exhibit there's a stamping station of cute ink stamped fishes and creatures for you to collect. 😆

The highlight is a huge exhibit with all manner of sharks and huge whale sharks! Do go early to avaoid the crowds and there's a queue system in place for staggered entry to the aquarium to avoid over-crowding

Our second time to visit. I still enjoy it very much. The highlight are the very big ocean fishes - manta ray, whale sharks, hammerhead shark, penguins, puffins, and Moonfish. The garden eels and the soft coral collection are all very interesting. The jellyfish display also nice.

Lastly, I enjoy the coin press, stamp sites (just because they’re cute) and souvenir shop!

We just didn’t know how to get to see the mermaid sculpture in the area.

I’m not a fan of animal based tourism so probably shouldn’t have gone in. It is impressive but it made me uncomfortable to see those creatures in captivity. The presentation and the course you take is interesting. We added the Santa Maria cruise onto our ticket. I would honestly give this a miss as the area is not scenic in my opinion. I wouldn’t go to either again.

Afterwards we went on the large Ferris wheel nearby and that I can recommend for great views and fun too. We just bought tickets before, there was only a line for the glass bottom carriage.

Visited the aquarium when it was raining in Osaka. If you are taking the train, it is a fair walking distance to the aquarium. By the time we reached our destination, our shoes were soaking wet. While inside, you do get to see the usual fishes and other sea creatures.

The showcase is actually the huge aquarium that houses the whale sharks. Word of advice is to not stop and take pictures immediately when you reach thar aquarium. You should walk towards the end of the path, with the aquarium still in your view. Lesser crowd, there are seats in front of the aquarium, and you get to appreciate the whale sharks in peace.

Amazing aquarium with a bunch of massive displays and plenty of whale sharks to photograph. It does get pretty crowded with tourists even during working hours for the weekdays.

Restaurant inside has very cutely themed aquarium deserts, fast foods and drinks.

We had a day trip from Kyoto to Osaka and one place we wanted to visit was the aquarium to see the whale sharks. We spent a couple of hours wandering through the aquarium at times sitting and enjoying watching the fish and rays and sharks swim around the tank. While it was good to see the whale sharks up close it must be said that is is sad to see them in such a small tank compared to the oceans they would normally live in. Like a zoo it gives people an opportunity to see animals that they wouldn't normally get to see in the wild.

Outstanding! Such beautiful displays and such a great variety of species. Includes a colossal tank with a pair of whale sharks! Maybe the best aquarium I’ve ever seen.

It is one of the biggest aquarium in Japan. Very nice colkection. It s very easy to reach from train station. They have max qty of visitors in 30 min time slot, so it s not too crowded to see popular fishes.

An enjoyable experience. Each tank has a geographic theme representing unique Pacific Rim biodiversity. We enjoyed all of it. It was artful and lovely.
