We stumbled across this shrine while walking across Osaka this afternoon. It was such an attractive complex that we were tempted to linger in the outer courtyards and ended up buying an entry ticket into the central courtyard as well, which cost 300 yen. The...More

I was a bit disappointed once I got here, yes the buildings are old, but it was a bit of a let down compared to some of the other sites in Osaka or Kyoto. The main train line is a good 20 minutes walk

Seems a little out of place as the main entrance is fronted by a major intersection/roadway but once inside it has it's own life pulse. The temple itself is very sacred and thus should be explored with appropriate respect. Wonderful feel and history.

Shitennoji Temple is nice, unassuming and spacious. Very serene surroundings and peaceful visit in contrast to the bustling central areas in Osaka.

I visited here in the early morning so there are not many people, and it was silent. Temples are very clean and I can really see the culture. It's free to visit.

There is a fee if you want to enter the temple inner surroundings. But if you remain outside, you don't have to pay.
