Nice temporary exhibits

We enjoyed the "Home" exhibit with Malaysian artists depicting their homeland. The past and present exhibit on third floor was also well articulated.

On previous occasions I have enjoyed original Malaysian art here so I was quite dissappointed to find the permanent collection under reorganizing. The Young Contemporary show mainly mimicked Western art trends and offered the possibility to take funny pictures. One artist, Syed Zanzur Aksah rose above the others with the animal and beast masks made of clay and painted brightly.... More

Currently there are 3 exhibitions of different themes taking place at the National Visual Arts Gallery until January 2017. The 3 exhibitions are 1MCAT in level 1, Retro Biennale in level 2 and Sage in level 3 which is my favorite. National Visual Arts Gallery is located next to Istana Budaya and close to Taman Tasik Titiwangsa. It is open... More

Until March 2017, certain floors are closed for renovation. Due to this, no entrance fee was charged during my visit in September 2016. There were some interesting paintings from local artistes but the gallery needs more varieties and more collections for repeat visitors. Perhaps, it would be much better if there were some stories/descriptions of the paintings and artistes rather... More

There is some renovation here. There are fine pieces but the variety is not enough. Lighting is somehow creating reflection of oil painting at which you cannot see the details. Exhibition regarding Kelantan is thought provoking with touring of one of the creator. Hope for better exhibits next time.

This is one of the lesser - visited of Kuala Lumpur's attractions. The simple reason is that it is kind of out of the way from the city's other main attractions. The other reason is that there is no subway station near and the road outside is very jammed during weekdays. This place has very well - curated rotating exhibitions.... More

National Visual Arts Gallery is located next to Istana Budaya and it is accesible via KL Hop-On Hop-Off bus. Different exhibition takes place in the gallery from time to time and the current exhibition running there is "Mapping".

We went to this place because unplaned after the Bato caves. We were surprised to see it empty of visitors. The permanent exhibition is actually good. And you get to see some good paintings of local artists influenced by French art. The contemporary exhibition that was there temporary (first floor) was interesting, although some exhibits were si-saw.... Free entrance.

for people like me, i cant afford to buy any art piece, so once a month I come here to view all the beautiful art. I really love interior architecture of this building.Very modern design. There is cafe near the entrance. Price of food that very affordable for the locals.
