- celgeZurich, Switzerland80 contributionsShort and not very insightful tourI was done in 30’. Short guided tour in the museum did not more reveal than what I could have read myself. The most interesting was the production, but also that was very short and just three steps of the whole process (finishing the goods) were shown. I would have loved to learn more about the end to end process, including aspects such as sustainability and human rights of the workers. It seems mostly a marketing site with the main aim to sell their goods (although you don’t feel pushed to buy some). The café is small and expensive and neither a reason to stay longer. The guide’s English was difficult to understand due to the strong accent. What’s good is the free shuttle service from KL so at least I did not spend money or spend more time to get to this surprisingly short 30’ visitVisited February 2023Travelled soloWritten February 18, 2023
- tumbleweedchrisRichland, Washington954 contributionsSkip the WorkshopThe overall reviews for this attraction seem too generous for what the attraction actually is. You will be taken on a free guided tour. The tour is quite short and is maybe 15-30 minutes. It walks through some of the older pewter items in their collection, a demonstration of the pewter crafting process, and a look at the factory floor with many employees at work. At the end, you then have the opportunity to browse the store or sign up for a workshop. We tried the hard knocks workshop, but I can't really recommend that. I'm not sure the leader of this workshop spoke much English. It was mostly a silent demonstration of how to hammer the pewter into a bowl. If I ran into a problem, the leader just fixed it themselves and did not explain to me what to do. You do get a pewter bowl and apron, but I was hoping for more of an educational session and this was anything but. The tour is average if you need something to fill out your time and I'd recommend skipping the workshops.Visited February 2023Written March 25, 2023
- Kai Jing Lim1 contributionNice learning facilityThe learning experience was a nice one here, friendly guide to show us around the facility. However, what could've made our visit here amazing is if the tour guide paced the explanations better, giving more time for us visitors to take in the art of pewter making. This centre was still worth the trip.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten July 14, 2023
- Lisa8 contributionsA museum with a different flavourThis was an unexpected stop on a guide to Batu Caves. Wasn’t sure what to expect. Met by a fabulous guide named Tan. Tan was very knowledgeable about the history of Pewter and it’s founders. Very clearly and softly spoken. Tan was very engaging and happy to answer questions. I thoroughly enjoyed watching staff/employees working the material right in front of you - You could watch products being made. One of the ladies adding design to one of the cups has been there 40yrs!!! Khyurie (sorry not quite sure how to spell name) was also polite and knowledgeable in the shop area. Would highly recommend if you would like to do something a little different.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten August 27, 2023

Harvard, guided us on our visit and we loved the experience. My son has been there once before but claimed this was much more insightful and so much more fun.
The guide kept it interactive and engaging.
The staff at the factory was very helpful and kind to demonstrate along with Harvard's explanation - and was happy to answer our questions.
I definitely have a better appreciation for the Royal Selangor brand now compared to before

It was amazing especially because we got to see the factory and the process of making pewter. It was a great learning experience because we learned a lot of new things like pewter is an alloy. We also had a lot of fun making pewter bowls.

Yes there are 2 activity rooms one you make your own bowl from a flat sheet. Harder than it looks and it is quite reasonably priced. You keep the apron as well. The other workshop make more delicate items.
