Masjid Jamek opened its doors more than 100 years ago, making it one of the oldest mosques in Kuala Lumpur. Built in a Moorish style with iconic white domes, the mosque sits at the confluence of the Sungei Klang and Sungei Gombak rivers. The bazaar outside is also well worth a visit.

There was a lot of construction. We saw it from outside and tried to get in, however couldn't find a way to get in. We saw people in there but not sure if they were tourists.

I could visit this late evening. The very big structure, looming extra ordinarily large in the fading lights was actually a dream like situation. Vast forecourt, very high minar, people moving around, families spending time in forecourt. Great experience indeed.

You can go here by taking public transport to Masjid Jamek If you are from KL sentral, you can go LRT that towards Gombak, drop off on Masjid Jamek station. You can always go to Jalan TAR near the station for shopping or dining.

With three white domes above and two minarets (towers), this is a beautiful mosque although it kind of "looks obscure" somewhat (and maybe a little hard to find too) with plenty of big modern buildings in its vicinity; in any case, it won't be hard...More
