Roxas Boulevard is a popular waterfront promenade in Manila in the Philippines. The boulevard, which runs along the shores of Manila Bay, is well-known for its sunsets and stretch of coconut trees. The divided roadway has become a trademark of Philippine tourism, famed for its yacht club, hotels, restaurants, commercial buildings and parks. Originally called Cavite Boulevard, it was renamed Dewey Boulevard in honor of the American Admiral George Dewey, who under his command defeated the Spanish navy in the Battle of Manila Bay in 1898. The boulevard was again renamed to Heiwa Boulevard in late 1941 during Japanese Home Rule and Roxas Boulevard in the 1960s to honor President Manuel Roxas, the fifth president of the Republic of Philippines.

The arcing road runs in a north-south direction from Rizal Park in Manila and ends in Parañaque at the intersection of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Road. However, the most popular points along the Boulevard can be found along a 3-kilometer stretch, whose endpoints are bounded by Rizal Park and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. In between those two points can be found the Manila Yacht Club, Manila Ocean Park and the US Embassy.

It is only a road. Nothing to see. While in the car with our guide, he showed us a sign to show the road name.

Passing through Roxas Boulevard from Luneta to Baclaran area, you pass by the U.S. Embassy, Cultural Center Area, five star Hotels, Phil. Navy station, etc. During Christmas season, its long stretch is well lighted and decorated with lanterns and colors of the Yuletide season. Avoid using this road during peak hours so that you will enjoy the different view that... More

I feel safe here BUT do not take my words for it. Local people are nice BUT do not prolong conversations. So many food strip along the way, most are decent. Enjoy the locals, somewhat safer than sidestrip of major US cities. Great place to end you day, the sunset was spectacular!

This is a long corridor with paralyzing traffic. In many parts of it, it would be quicker to walk ..

Such a disappointment. I brought my Vietnamese friend to the Manila Baywalk for a leisurely stroll but ended up apologizing. First, the baywalk is full of excrement - not sure if those were from humans, from dogs or from horses that pass through it. Second, the area is not fully lit after sunset so chances of getting mugged are high.... More

One of the best road in the Metro Manila. Wide walk ways on both sides & can see Manila bay on the other side.
