Fort Santiago plays an important role in the history of the Philippines. It displays the crucial years leading up to the liberation of the Filipino people and the struggle that took place in this connection. It pays tribute to Jose Rizal, the national hero, who paid for his life for his beliefs. The place is undergoing refurbishment at the moment... More

A very good place to know our history and of course our national hero. You can see Dr. Jose Rizal's steps going to Luneta as well as the place where he was detained and the courthouse then. On the second floor was Dr. Jose Rizal's works as well as local and foreign currencies showing Dr. Rizal of its face. I... More

Go and see ! Walk around ! Go to the Rizal museum. Walk round the walls, look at the harbour , read the information boards about the prisoners and their fate . Visit the mass grave at the end of the fort.

The old part of Manila. Free to enter. Well worth a visit together with the rest of Intramuros to wander round for a few hours

The Fort and the whole of Intramuros is a must see for a visitor to Manila. Take a trike tour with guide that will last about 2 hours. Then walk back and explore what peaked your interest in more detail. Trike tours are about 350 per half hour and well worth it. If you get Genesis as your trike driver... More

This fort stood as a bastion of power in the long history of the Philippines. Featured are structures, sculptures, and installations of important historical figures that played a part in the story of a nation. The country's national hero Gat Dr. Jose Rizal was imprisoned here before his execution. Calesas and local guides are available for hire right at the... More

A walk around the fort serves to establish the role of the fort in the historic protection of the city from possible invasion. The museum towards the centre of the fort houses artifacts and a detailed explanation of the life of Rizal, a national hero of the Philippines, which I found most enlightening and well presented.

A beautiful little fort packed with history. Interesting and informative. Probably one of the best cultural places to visit in Manila. It has lots of open areas where you can sit and soak up the atmosphere or just relax. You can walk on some of the battlements. There is a lovely little moat with lilies in.
