Nice ancient place,

It's located in the old part of Ankara. It requires a long walk within narrow alleys to reach castle. It's definitely worth a visit.

This is an old castle surrounded by lot of shops mostly selling different objects and there are plenty of restaurants where you can eat local food. Also there is an very famous museum, Old Anatolian Civilization Museum , on the coming down from the castle . So you can visit both

Ankara Castle sits in a commanding position overlooking the Ulus neighborhood. A Roman and later Byzantine castle and likely even earlier, the castle as seen today contains numerous Roman statuary and inscribed stones in its walls. An entire book on Ankara's Roman history has been written based on the stones contained in the castle's walls. The castle still has inhabitants... More

Unlike Istanbul, there are fewer must-see places in Ankara. Anitkabir ( Ataturk's mosoleum ) and Ankara Castle are perhaps the two most important places to see. The castle is also home to the Anatolian Civilization Museum and the Koc Museum.

We had great fun climbing all over the castle walls, admiring the views from the citadel and reading the history. There are a number of cafes in the run down but now being restored residential area around the citadel within the castle walls

This a histrorical place which offres you a great panaroma of the city. Nice, little shops around. Might seem a little dangerous around it.

when finishing your visit to the anatolian museum, you can see with your eyes a well preserved otoman city inside the walls of the castle

Here is the perfect place to catch the city from every aspects, you are standing top of the city and before entering castle you experience a beautiful walk through a very cute village with beautiful houses, the best place in Ankara for photographers.

Walking through the shops of the castle are neat. There are several great places to grab a quick bite. Once at the castle, avoid going into the turret areas, those areas seem to be used as bathrooms. If you're able, go all the way to the top. It's a lot of stairs but the view of the city is amazing.
