This zoo is awesome! We spent an entire Saturday walking around a couple weeks ago. We loved it. We are from the Philadelphia area and have been to the Philadelphia zoo numerous times. The NC zoo is far better. Lots of walking, lots of animals, great exhibits. I highly recommend this! The animals were not very active the day we... More

It's a fun zoo. I'm not usually a fan of them, however knowing they are actively engaged in conservation efforts made me happy. They could definitely have a bigger area for the gorillas and other animals but overall it was a good day.

Had the best time. Hate they closed at 4 but completely understand! Walking was a lot but well worth every step. It was chilly but over all we had the best time!

The North Carolina Zoo has such an eclectic group of animals to observe, from sea animals to giraffes. They are placed throughout the park as they are in the wild so that they are compatible to roam or swim freely. The seals are the best because they never tire of dipping, flipping, and swimming round and round the rocks. The... More

Had a great time visiting the North Carolina Zoo with my family. It's a very large zoo with plenty room for expansion so be prepared to walk . The free zoo shuttles can come in handy on a hot day but overall a great experience.

Two new venues that opened in 2016 and we'll worth the additional ticket fees. Zoofari puts you inside the Africa Plains Exhibit on a bus. Multiple up close photo and animal viewing opportunities. AirHike requires you to be 48 inches tall and taller and has a 250 lb weight limit. Harness up and work your way through the tree tops... More

I like this zoo because you don't feel like the animals are just caged up all the time. The zoo is huge and the animals have a lot of room to roam. The reptile exhibit was a little disappointing; it was too dark and had few specimens.

This zoo is much bigger than expected. There is LOTS of walking, but it's pretty amazing to see the animals have such spread out enclosures. Pay the extra for the safari trip, completely worth it!
