It is very random that the Cat Fancier´s museum is in Alliance, Ohio. However, they do an amazing job and I am so glad I have been able to visit there so many times. I took one of my cats to an agility contest there once, and quickly realized that agile is in the eye of the beholder (meaning I thought he was much more agile than I thought). Nonetheless, it was an incredible experience and they do amazing thing for animals.

We visited the museum on a weekend and it wasn't busy at all. In fact, we were the only visitors. The museum is free and is basically just full of cat related items. Porcelain cats, cat books, cat related fashion, etc is all here. Since the building used to be a bank they turned the vault into an area where they showcase cat dolls. There are also some displays regarding the history of cats and their prominence in Egyptian history. They do have a library with tons of cat books but a lot of them were old and the ones we saw about properly taking care of your cat's health were out of date.

If you are a cat lover then you will probably like the museum even if for just a brief visit. I did comment to the person I was visiting with that the museum would be a lot better if they had a resident cat to keep the visitors company :).

i think there is lots of potential for more exhibits and more information; the place is large enough that they could probably do a lot more. It wouldn't have to be extreme but adding more displays with information would help spruce it up a lot. The museum is worth a visit if you love cats but I most certainly wouldn't travel a long distance to see it.

It wasn't so much the "cat history museum" as it was "the museum of all this cat crap my family keeps giving me", but hey, at least it was free. There's a few displays about the history of showing cats, and—this was neat—a cat-house by Frank Lloyd Wright. But the rest was paintings of cats, figurines of cats, cat-dolls, cat-books, cat-tree-ornaments, cookie jars in the shape of cats... It was like a yard sale where you can't even buy anything, just look at it.

I think if it was re-named or presented differently (perhaps by placing less emphasis on the "history", and claiming it as the world's largest collection of cats, which would pair nicely with the nearby Troll Hole, home of the world's largest collection of Troll Dolls), I might've gotten more out of it; but the way it was presented led me to expect something totally different.

Biggest disappointment, though? No "cat museum" t-shirts. They have a small selection of cat-related paraphernalia for sale at the front of the museum, but none of it is specific to the museum. It actually looked like it was just stuff donated to the museum that wasn't interesting enough to put in a display case.

One more thing—look up their hours before visiting. As of this writing, their only weekend hours are 9AM-12PM on Saturday (although they have more hours during the week).

A really neat place to do a quick visit if you love cats. The building is quite impressive too, it appears to be an old bank.

This museum was extremely well done. Excellent displays- library - memorabilia from very early years of awards, amazing all the items with cat displays from tea pots to jewelry. Not a cat lover, no problem you will still enjoy.

We enjoyed this cute place with many different cat memorabilia. It’s free and a nice place to pass an hour or so. I especially enjoyed the lucky cat room.
