You don't need to head to England to experience the genius of a Shakespearean play. Much closer to home is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival located in Ashland, Oregon. Every year at the end of October you can enjoy on average over ten of Shakespeare's plays performed in both classic and newly imagined style. Separate tickets are needed for each show which is held at one of the event campus's two indoor or one outdoor spaces.

We have attended 5 or 6 plays now and it is always a treat. We usually see productions staged in the outdoor Elizabethan Theater, but this time opted for an indoor play. I would have to say I do prefer the outdoor theater. But you...More

There was nothing about this experience I disliked. The festival is a well-oiled machine and the artistic value is amazing. I attended 5 plays in 3 days and worried the details would run together or clash. While the shows I saw varied from classical (Richard...More

We love to explore Ashland, a cute small town, and we love attending plays, both Shakespeare and others, at OSF. Always great productions. Evening events on the "Green" are free and fun, too.

One thing about Ashland Shakespeare is that you get great seats if you book early. I was in the front row. Wow

Saw two plays plus participated in the Back Stage Tour. Enjoyed all of the activities but especially liked sitting outside in the open air watching In the Woods. As usual, OSF is an enjoyable, world class experience. Can't recommend highly enough!

The OSF is situated on the rim of the beautiful Lithia Park. 4-hour parking is enforced through 8 pm, so it is strategic to arrive around 5 pm, have dinner and stroll around. There is a court yard where free public performance (e.g. taiko) may...More

Three days, six plays. A variety of genres and emotional experiences. Always worthwhile and it may pay to become a subscriber as live theater of this caliber is not inexpensive. But definitely worth the visit.

Loved it all. So well done and intimate. Even the skeptics in the family were impressed and enjoyed the plays.
