You don't need to head to England to experience the genius of a Shakespearean play. Much closer to home is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival located in Ashland, Oregon. Every year at the end of October you can enjoy on average over ten of Shakespeare's plays performed in both classic and newly imagined style. Separate tickets are needed for each show which is held at one of the event campus's two indoor or one outdoor spaces.

Amazing!

If you can this summer, go and see A Wrinkle in Time or Into the Woods!! They were both absolutely wonderful performances.

Once again, we were met with a wonderful theater experience. This was our fourth trip in as many years. We saw three great plays and one not so good one. Even that one was pretty good. Some pointers to improve on an already great experience: 1. Become a member. You get access to the members lounge, a discount at the... More

We left the play at intermission. Not that good. Long-winded, limited plot. Theater itself and ambiance was nice.

First off it's not just Shakespeare. I can only take so much King Lear and Richard the second before I glaze over. This company of actors also offers Musicals, modern plays and Oldie Moldy plays done in modern dress and sets. The little town of Ashland Oregon revolves around the Festival which runs all summer and into October. Last night... More

We have been going to professional and community theater productions for years; however the performance at the Shakespeare Festival was spectacular in so many ways: the flawless performance, the set design, the lighting, the stage, the orchestra. It was a special night of theatre for us.

I've been going to the Festival for the last five years and now am considering making it a bi-annual event. My expectations are exceeded and I enjoy getting together with another teacher friend for a few days and a few shows each time. Great restaurants and park for walking make it a lovely holiday!

This was the second time we went to the Shakespeare Festival and, again, we were blown away. This festival really makes Shakespeare accessible--I'm actually seeing a play with a plot, not just listening to people reciting Shakespeare and feeling all cultured about it. I also love that they are willing to go beyond the poofy pants and ruffly collars and... More

We saw 4 plays in two days and loved them all. Spoonful of Water was our favorite because of the cast, powerful story and creative set design. We also saw Coconuts, very funny,The Tempest, strong cast and staging, and Into the Woods, a little long, but clever. We especially enjoyed the talks with actors after the shows and the Green Concert... More

OSF is well known outside of Ashland and for good reason. It puts on very high caliber plays (Shakespeare and others) in a beautiful setting. Well worth a trip!

Grandson's first Shakespeare play, Two Gentlemen from Verona, and then Coconuts - what a hoot! We laughed and giggled thru the entire show. The actors were fantastic. I had forgotten how funny the Marx Brothers were. Nathan made numerous friends in their Gift Shop.
