This is a great little museum in downtown. 3 floors with lots of photographs and just a few exhibits, so if you don't like historical photos, it will probably be a quick trip for you. But it is still definitely worth a visit. They do have a tank and some other vehicles out back to look at.

You can tell that a lot of thought has been put into this museum. It is also a work in progress with new displays being worked on. We thoroughly enjoyed using the information wands...just type in the number of a display and learn even more. Lots of information and displays on three floors. Well worth the time to visit.

I took my three children that are 9,6, and 3. My oldest boys were enamored by the displays. Someone has obviously taken a lot of care into building them. I heard someone sawing out back at work even while we were there. It had the right mix of written and visual material to entertain children and adults. My sons enjoyed... More

We thought this would be a short stop but ended up spending 3 hours visiting all 3 floors. The photos, displays and personal accounts of the battalion, the battles and life during the war were very well presented. We learned a lot. Well worth the visit.

Liked the backwards swasticka display with the comment in reply to one regarding its being backward which was 'We won so we can draw it as we like.' Also, did not appreciate the millenia long history of the swasticka and how its meanimg had been so tainted by the Nazis.

The plain outside of this building does not give any indication of the excellent WWII exhibits inside! Very well planned displays, beginning with the creation of the Division, training in Tennessee and then Camp Barkley in Abilene and the war abroad. Of course I am slightly prejudice since my father was part of the 493rd in the 12th Armored Division.... More

I was surprised at how interesting this museum was. I hadn't heard much about it and took my 8 year old grandson to visit during a downtown festival. He loved it and I was very impressed. We skipped some exhibits just because of his age, but overall, it was very interesting and I would highly recommend it for any age... More

A very interesting museum that educates and inspires. Volunteers made history come alive. There are also interesting guest speakers.

I really enjoy military history so when I moved to Abilene this was a must see. I brought my 2 children (ages 7 and 3) with me and they loved the interaction of the new listening devices the museum had just gotten. They allow you to input a number for each display and then it adds details which was wonderful... More
