The restaurants are mediocre. The shops come and go but rarely have any new inventory. If you went 10 years ago, you saw it all. No development. Nothing that exciting. Old and tired.

nice place to stroll the afternoon away, with antiquing, good food, and at night, bands at some of the bars on the strip. i had a great time just people watching....seemed like people from all walks of life were there enjoying themselves.

Save your time and energy. They've freshened up store fronts & sidewalks, but it's still the same ole "boozer boulevard" it has always been. I keep going to this area over the years (1969-2015) just to see if it really has changed, but NO IT...More

Old Jacinto Area has one shop I really like to visit. Amarillo Coin is owned and operated by a very unique family. Both the Father (Frank) and his son are some interesting people. Most Gold and Silver shops are out to take your money. This...More

Park the car and put on your walking' shoes! This is Amarillo's antique shopping district. You can walk for several blocks and check out the antiques, old books and yeah..junk too! Friendly proprietors for the most part. Vintage clothing, furniture and stuff! When you get...More

I have visited this area over the years and was sad to see that the area has lost much of its charm. It has more bars and less antique and other quality shops and restaurants than in the past. The long standing and historic Golden...More

Why would a neighborhood be considered an attraction? If it is, it would be a very sad one. I have lived in Amarillo my entire life and actually remind people to stay out of "San Ja-Ghetto". Don't go here unless you prefer crack deals on...More

I love Amarillo, but the neighbors in the Old Jacinto Area are just old and grouchy. They contribute nothing to the area, but expect all the attention and respect of up scale neighborhoods. Most of them have lived there all their lives and don't like...More

It was quaint back then...20 years ago. they had just put in new brick sidewalks and old-world looking lights on sixth Street (old rte. 66). I frequented the many second-hand shops. My mom bought a huge barrel of old buttons there when she came for...More

Years ago (1974) I came to Amarillo not knowing about the area I purchased a home there, only to find myself in "for no better word" hell. Due to circumstances I had to remain there with small children to long. They were destroyed by the...More

Although I like the Amarillo Coin Shop, the rest of the strip is basically JUNK! All of the respectful shops have moved on. Why does not the City of Amarillo clean out the area and make it what it was when Route 66 actually went through this area? Surely, the dope dealers and Tattoo shops can be relocated elsewhere. This needs to be a respectful place to draw visitors to Amarillo not a place to get drunk, do dope and kill people. Amarillo once had a respectful history, let's see if it can come back to that time. One can not be a draw to hype on vacation sites without getting a bad name and it shows RIGHT HERE ON TRIP ADVISOR~!
