No, it doesn't darken the moon or anything that dramatic but it's still very cool to witness. And you can do so for free! We did this twice during our visit to Austin. The first time we watched from the park. Don't do that. It's...More

If you look at the photos that gives you a good idea on what you will see. Its not like they block out the moon or anything, but quite amazing to see such a large group in one place. We walked down to the far...More

The bats at the Congress Avenue Bridge are unique and I am glad I went because it was a beautiful day on the river in Austin, but the bats were so much less than I expected. Some websites say there are 750,000-1,500,000 bats that live...More

Austin is home to the largest urban bat colony. The show isn't finished in just a few minutes, there are so many you can watch these bats leave for hours. The bats are migratory so the best time to see them is in the summer...More

If you are in the area and it’s bat season you must go!! It’s an amazing feat of nature to see 1.5 million bats come out to eat. Recommend going to the bridge about 30 minutes before dusk so you can get a place to...More

We were out for an evening stroll and wondered why there was a crowd on the bridge. We were unaware of Austin's bat history. It was amazing to see. There is information about the bats along the north east side of the hiking trail. The...More

I hate bats. They disgust me. But if you’re in Austin you have to do this. We did the cruise and it was great. The bats don’t too get close so no worries but it’s the best vantage point. Always be batman

This is one of the many recommended things to do in Austin Texas. I got to the bridge at dusk and waited along with about a thousand other people. Expected the bats to emerge in huge clouds, but they came out in waves and stay...More

We went to the Congress Avenue bridge to see the bats on our last night in Austin. It was truly a sight to see. I'm so glad we finally got down there to see them. It's amazing that that many bats can all come flying...More

We just watched from the park below the bridge. Next time I would watch from the bridge above the bats. I didn’t see any reason to pay for a boat tour.
