Coming from Canada - the novelty of being able to SUP at the end of October is pretty high. Rented the paddle boards from SUP ATX and went on our way. I took great pleasure in seeing the city from a different perspective and getting in some exercise!

A wonderful piece of the Colorado river running right down the center of Austin. Super hike and bike trail around most of it. Many things to experience while walking it: at dusk, the Bats at Congress Ave., Zilker Park, statue of SRV, etc

The trip over the bridge is quick, but you can extend and expand your view by climbing the hill,(Courtyard Dr.)turning west on the north side of the bridge.

Town Lake was next to our hotel at the Holiday Inn Town Lake - From our room the water was just sparkling. The lake was full of activity with kayaks and paddleboards. However, I learned on our bat tour that no swimming is allowed in Town Lake! The hike and bike trails along the shore line are just beautiful as... More

Scheduled a kayak trip and were hesitant to go due to the weather. Overcast and rainy. It didn't rain and had that hot Texas sun been beating down on us for the trip, I would have been swimming more than kayaking!!

To witness the energy and vitality of Austin, go spend an hour walking, running or biking along Town Lake. Between the beautiful scenery and droves of healthy people on the water or on the trail, you will experience why Austin is unique and loved by all.

I went there with my husband and friends and we road 16 miles with our bicycle alongside the river. Although the weather was very hot, it is a nice ride because it has a lot of downhills and most of the track is under the tree shadows. During the ride we made a detour to a street called Rainey Street,... More

Going around Town Lake is such a joy and adventure. One sees a diversity of ages as people bike, walk, and run on the paths. It feels great to look around and see others enjoy going around the trails alone, in pairs, or small groups. It is beautiful and a great opportunity to do some exercise.

I have been out kayaking and fishing several times this month. I launch from the Austin High School area, which is always crowded but easy to use. There are always people around to help and talk to. Lots of fisherman at sunrise, pleasure kayakers later in the day. Good place to have fun,the only drawback is that swimming isn't allowed... More
