If it's in Texas, it must be bigger and better. That is the motto that architects followed with the Capitol Building in Austin. At one time, it was the tallest capitol building in the nation. Others might be taller now, but this is still a beautiful building that shows off many of the natural resources which are so prevalent in Texas, such as limestone and the landscapes.

The capital of Texas is so full of history. It's beautiful. It's great to visit in the evening too as it's less crowded.

I've been to the Capital many times but it never ceases to awe. Beautiful craftsmanship! And today I saw things I'd never seen before. Take the docent lead tour, its free every 15 minutes. Don't miss the underground floors.

We were most impressed by how in September we could simply enter, via security of course, and look all around including both houses. We were impressed by the interior, the furnishings and how so much of it reminded us of the Palace of Westminster. We...More

It's worth seeing! We didn't have a lot of time but we were glad we stopped by to see this piece of Texas' history.

I took the Real Austin Tour with Austin Detours. Our guide, Ike, regaled us with stories of the construction of the Capital Building and tales of long-ago dramas and shenanigans. Beautiful buildings!

Loved seeing the Capitol and enjoyed the complimentary tour. Learned a lot about the great State of Texas. Take some time to look at the statues and monuments surrounding the Capitol as well. For more of my travel adventures find me on Instagram as thefunwifey.

You can't go to Austin and not see the State Capitol! Beautiful architecture and paintings. We were lucky to catch a show where people in costumes performed dances from different cultures. The grounds are also beautiful. Our infant even loved looking at the dome ceiling!

Sorry Elizabeth, but I was in Dubai, UAE when you submitted the question. The #37 bus would have taken you from your location to 8th & Guadalupe. Only a few blocks from the Capitol.
