What a beautifully maintained cemetery to honor great Texans. I had the pleasure of taking my husband here on his first trip to Texas yesterday as we went through Austin. It was my third visit, and I was moved by the Chris Kyle stone that...More

We were to tour the cemetery as part of our Hill Country tour. Unfortunately there was a private service happening, so we only saw it from a distance. Guide was very knowledgeable about it's history. Lovely from the outside.

I went with Leadership Lufkin to the Cemetery. The cemetery is amazing in that it started as a civil war veterans cemetery for paupers and has now become the resting place for many of the great Texas heroes. Coaches Tom Landry and Darrel Royal both...More

Had a great time, walking around reading headstones. The grounds are very well be manicured, lots of shade, & have sidewalks so my dad can ride he's scooter. This is a picture of Chris Kyle's headstone. Very moving !!

If one loves history and cemeteries this place is a must visit. The history of Austin and much of Texas is here. What a beautiful setting and well-maintained grounds. A great place for a peaceful walk under the trees.

Stunning cemetery on the east side of downtown. It is beautiful, interesting and immaculately maintained. I enjoyed seeing not only historical greats but also more recently lost greats like Chris Kyle, Darryl Royal and James Street's final resting places.

Just off the freeway and next to the baseball stadium downtown. Not particularly morbid to me. Graves are very old. Lots of big names are here. Beautiful place to walk or sit.

Yes parking is available inside the cemetery but it gets crowded sometimes. Best to Park outside and walk in. Get to see more that way. Well worth the walk.
