The Contemporary Austin reflects the spectrum of contemporary art through exhibitions, commissions, education, and the collection. The museum has two distinct yet complementary locations, the Jones Center downtown and Laguna Gloria, a fourteen-acre site on Lake Austin, which is home to the Driscoll Villa, Gatehouse Gallery, the Art School, and the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park at Laguna Gloria.

Please note: The historic Driscoll Villa is closed on Mondays and open Tuesday-Sunday 10A-4P. The grounds, including the Betty and Edward Marcus Sculpture Park, are open Monday-Saturday 9A-5P and Sunday 10A-5P

This small museum may be a bit off the beaten path and not downtown Austin, yet it offers a pleasant and art-inspired creation of imagination for both the painter in all of us and sculptor alike. The picturesque landscape offer a peaceful and small escape from the highrise towers and pavement all around our wonderful Austin. Plus, there is even... More

A true gem of old Austin beauty on the shores of Lake Austin. The grounds are spectacular with photo ops everywhere. The Artwork just adds to the entire experience.

Some might debate that but its a great local Art Museum right on the lake so there are also nice places to take a walk before or after. Really enjoyable experience.

It's simply lovely here, with a growing collection of sculpture situated on a walk around an inlet of the river. They have plans to expand the collection and to create more walking paths. N the second Saturday of each month, they offer free kids' set activities as well.

This sculpture garden is located outside of a historic mansion. The gardens are beautiful with pathways leading to the lake and on each path gigantic sculptures are hidden away for you to discover. Really enjoyed this unexpected museum. The mansion has beautiful architecture too. $5 for adults and free parking!!!

Complete waste of time. A wooden phone pole with a street light and a poster of a lost cat is Art??? Please!!! The house looks nice from the outside but you can only visit one room. We checked in and were told we had to pay to visit the grounds. A few others seemed to do so but most visitors... More

We see something fresh each time we visit Laguna Gloria. The outdoor art/sculpture installations are incredibly engaging, and the villa itself is always elegant. Inside exhibits vary from photography to sketches and paintings to visual multi-media presentations. Several months ago there was an excellent video exhibit about a river glade with a melting block of ice to give the timing... More

Our first visit to The Contemporary Austin was quite wonderful. We visited Laguna Gloria, there is another location downtown but we didn't visit today. After arriving the first thing we were greeted with was this amazing, giant silver sculpture. I do mean giant, as in taller than anything around, completely made from aluminum, with the face looking up to the... More

Attended a specially arranged picnic outdoors with docent tour of the two level grounds and the sculptures. Really liked the aluminum foil pan giant man shown in the picture for this attraction and other unique sculptures. This is a memorable outing. If you picnic, bring blanket or chairs. There are some spread out sitting areas on the grounds if you... More
