South Congress has fun shops to look around in. Some very unique stuff. There is also tons of good food. You could spend all day here.

We walked up and down SoCo taking in all the cool. There was a "Barkitecture" exhibit and auction going on (doghouses), an artists' market, shops from practically historic cowboy boot emporiums, to crafty stuff, to foodie stuff, to motorcycle stuff. Food carts abound.

The street is full of unique shops, food trucks and restaurant. It's what I think Austin must have been like before the developers arrived.

Unique & engaging shops - we were two couples on a trip to Austin and even the guys liked the shopping and wandering around. This is home to Allens Boots (just go) and so many unique shops I can't begin to list all my favorites....More

The street is attractive with multiple boutiques, gift shops and restaurants. What we saw was pretty pricey but overall it was a very attractive area.

From Mexican items to local made jewelry, clothing and gifts, just take a walk along the West side of the street. Some restaurants on the East side (as well as west). The iconic costume/vintage shop, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is especially colorful.

Nice mix of shopping and eateries. A variety of non-chain stores, which is what we were looking for. Full spectrum of pricey to affordable.

Uber is no longer active in Austin..cabs are easy to get. Another option is bicycle which are available near hotels. Get a 24 hrs pass.
