Free Parking on the street was a nice surprise when we visited South Congress Street in Austin. There were several really cute shops my wife enjoyed thoroughly. Maya's on South Congress wins for best dress shop. SoCo is the place to go if you want...More

TheSoCo District/Neighborhood is a cool area to explore. It's the area South of the Congress Street Bridge. We drove around the neighborhood and found it quite interesting. Of course we visited the iconic street mural "Greetings from Austin" on 1st Avenue and Annie Street. That reason...More

I loved S Congress Ave. So many food trucks, murals and people! We rented bicycles and rode up and down this street many times. It's great to have so many choices of food and drink so close together.

SoCo is so-named because it's SOuth of the CapitOl building. It's more of a destination & a wander-up-and-down-the-street kind of thing. There are tons of unique shops, great bars, fabulous food stops, and just fun seeing all the people and the things that help to...More

We spent a few hours in SoCo during our visit. Did some shopping. Had some food. A great way to spend an afternoon. Very hipster area that is worth a visit.

This is a hipster kind of area with a ton of shops and restaurants to choose from. Not all the people in the shops are friendly, but I guess that just means Austin has become a big city!

There is so much to experience along this Avenue, something for everyone! Shop, music, food, drinks, people watch, coffee. A true Austin experience.

We enjoyed this area! We stayed at the Embassy Suites and dined here. Cool and eclectic area with great shops and restaurants. We enjoyed Gueros. Lots of choices . It was interesting to us how the people park their cars....diagonally and backed in.

Great ability to spontaneously pop in to a venue and listen to live music. Started out with a meal at torcheys then walked north and took in the sites.

Walking distance around 2 miles roughly. Not many buses better off getting a cab, or walk

Parking is very hard to find. You may have to park down the street and walk. If you are staying downtown, take a cab (I believe Uber is being discontinued in Austin). Getting there early in the day is better for parking... More
