This is probably my fourth visit to Esther's Follies in 20 years, but I enjoy just as much every time. For those who are first-time visitors to Austin (and especially to Texas), this is a great venue to get a good laugh where some part...More

Has dropped off from what used to be witty, political, and sharp insight but is now filled with filth, cussing, and really lacks creative writing for skits and performances.

I've taken groups to Esther's for years. It's always changing to stay up to date with current events, but there are some bits that are staples- and always endearing. They will recognize your group during the program, and there are a few opportunities to get...More

Fun, fun, fun! Great variety of skits and magic intertwined into a 90 minute show which included a 5 minute intermission. Humor was not slanted in one political direction but included all, which was certainly nice to experience. Staff was friendly and helpful and not a...More

Esther's Follies is a 90 minute comedy and magic show that is fast paced, energetic and audience inclusive. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in Austin.

This little theatre totally exceeded our expectations. A very talented cast along with current themes and politics made for a hilarious night. Poked fun at both conservatives and liberals. The magician was also very talented and threw in some great humour into his acts. Reasonably...More

This review is a long time coming. I first saw this amazing show years ago and recently saw it again. It's simply fantastic; the performers, the comedians, the content, the set--top rate. It rivals Saturday Night Live. Bring tissue: you'll laugh so hard you'll cry.

Esther's Follies deserves the high rating it receives. It's located on a corner of 6th Street in downtown Austin. I suggest you purchase tickets in advance, I believe each show sells out. The building is old but serves this performance very well. Drinks are available...More

The shows on a weekend are the same. However, the script is modified every week to cover different current events. Where I see the most consistency is with the magic act. But, these are always good and always enjoyed... More

It was largely a liberal crowd and liberal-oriented humor, but far less biting than a lot of what you might see on late-night television. If you ever find this sort of humor funny I expect you will enjoy the show.
