I only looked at this from the outside. It's a nice house and I enjoy the history of this building and the area. It seems like a great many important people spent a lot of time in this small town. The house is worth a...More

My wife is from Alexandria when she was a child. She went to school nearby, and it's is fascinating when we sit at home and talk about her memories. Her stepmoms brother lived nearby and knows so much more about the history of the area....More

History is more fascinating than fiction. Robert E. Lee grew up next door to abolitionist Dr. Benjamin Hallowell who was Lee's mentor, tutor, and father figure -- in the absence of a real father. Lee got his anti-slavery views from Dr. Hallowell, and Dr. Hallowell...More

This used to be a worthwhile visit, and it is still of historic interest, but as it is a private home now you can only glimpse the exterior. The private sale created an uproar at the time, many years ago, but not enough money could...More

Cant view since it is a private home. Better to visit his birthplace or go to Arlington Cemetery in Washington DC

You can drive by this house or see it from the sidewalk, but it is private property now so you cannot enter.

The boyhood home of Robert E. Lee is privately owned and not open to the public. This was Lee's home from the age of 3 or 4 until he left for West Point at the age of 18.

I loved seeing this place. Getting to stand where a great man grew up was just incredible. There is just so much to absorb! I highly recommend this place.

Too bad this is no longer a museum, but there is still an historic marker outside, and what can be seen from the street is quite lovely. Close to the Lee-Fendall House, a bit off of King Street, worth a walk over just to see...More
