A lovely piece of history

The church is a great view into the lives of people we read about. You can sit in George Washington's pew. Robert E. Lee grew up in this church.

We toured Alexandria's Christ Church several times when we lived in Alexandria. Twenty years later we were back and revisiting some of the historic places we love. The church is on the corner of Washington and Cameron Streets and an easy walk from the center of the action on King St. The docent who was there was outstanding. She knew the... More

Following our map of historical Alexandria we came upon Christ Church. Entered the church just as the curator was starting a short tour. He was a wealth of information and made our visit more worthwhile.

This beautiful church is still at the hub of Alexandria's community. Their wonderful annual Messiah - performed so ably by their choir - is a highlight of the Christmas season. George Washington was a member of this church and of Pohick Church in Fairfax County. If you like churches you might want to spend the half hour to get to... More

A serene, beautiful, calm church, old and so worth a visit. Its ranking in the top few places in a town full of interesting sites is well-worth it.

This is another historical Alexandria site that's a must visit. You can see the pew where Washington worshipped and get a feel for what religious life was like in colonial times. As a local, I attended a Christmastime wedding of a dear friend at Christ Church. What a perfectly beautiful setting it was!

We discovered the church during a ghost tour and went back in the daytime to look around. We ended up speaking to someone who worked there who sat with us in George Washington's pew and talked about its history. Also, Robert E. Lee attended this church all his life.

Attractive, interesting and historic. There is only metered street parking if you are driving there but we were able to park without difficulty. The area around the the church is the northern part of old town and pleasant to walk through.
