Huntley Meadows is a hidden gem. The nature center offers an interesting overview of the wildlife with interactive, kid-friendly exhibits. We love to walk around in late afternoon in the summer and watch the frogs, beavers, snapping turtles, and cranes. Fun for all ages.

Lots of species very visible here, bring binoculars, and maybe a small snack. The walk is not long though, and includes walkways out into a freshwater marsh. Don't forget to check the feeder behind the visitors center!

Wetlands operated by Fairfax County. Enjoy a peaceful walk through the woods, surrounded by wildlife. The woods open up to a boardwalk which winds it's way through the wetland, a haven for all sorts of fowl......At no cost !

At any time of the year there is something new to see and experience in this peaceful oasis just off Richmond Hwy. There is easy free parking, a small but nice visitor's center, and a lovely loop around the wetland and woods. Access to the park is free, but they ask for small donations for parking (there are donation boxes... More

This is a lovely park with a boardwalk over the wetlands. We always see turtles here, but have also seen frogs, snakes, fish, and lovely birds. Lovely escape into nature.

A delightful walking path through the woods opens onto a boardwalk across the marsh. One can admire the construction work of the beavers in the area and watch the bird life activity. On a sunny day it is amazing to see how many turtles can sun themselves on a single log. Remember to bring your binoculars and your camera. If... More

We enjoy visiting Huntley Meadows in every season. The park has well-drained trails and elevated wooden walkways that make it easy for anyone to get up close to the wetland without getting a foot wet. The several trails take visitors through woodlands leading to the open wetlands where the elevated walkways take visitors through areas of rushes and aquatic plants.... More

I was ingressing. It's a park. big ducks, harbor, I have great photos of the harbor area. nice landscaping. people don't pick up the dog poop there. I was surprised. Maybe it's a Western States thing?

This is a great place to see wildlife close to the city. Boardwalks over the water get you close. It is different every time you go.
