Lots to see in this museum, provides good and balanced historical background for the area but not too crowded.

Nice place, not what I expected. The exhibits were very limited. It seems to need some care. I don't think I would recommend going

It's more of a hall way exhibit that you would expect at your local town hall. It is nicely done, just small. I will have to say that I was enchanted by the light house lamps, they were amazing.

We visited after we saw the advertisement for this museum in a guide to Alexandria. The ballroom for recitals is pretty and I am sure the acoustics are good. Enjoyed touring this small museum and learning about the importance of both the area and the structure itself which served as a hospital during the Civil War. Suggested donation is $2.

I recently attended a piano recital in the ballroom of the Lyceum in Old Town, Alexandria. The building itself is beautiful. It dates back to preCivil War times. It is as though the walls themselves could speak; it contains so much history. The ballroom upstairs had exquisite acoustics and a gorgeous grand piano. I would highly recommend it as a... More

Never realized how much historical significance Alexandria had. This Museum was very well done. They even had a little game that involved looking at the exhibits for clues for my grandson. It was thoroughly enjoyable.

I would only recommend this tour if you bought the city pass and were in the general area. It's just another little museum with a hodgepodge of artifacts. Close to Christ Church which is definitely worth a stop to see George Washington's box pew.

A nice place to visit as part of old town history, and often you'll find an artistic treat inside. Community artisans frequently book recitals and shows in this venue.

We visited the Lyceum for a friend's wedding and it was amazing. The architecture alone takes your breath away, and the reception space upstairs is beautiful. Downstairs you will find a very interesting and in-depth history of Old Town in the museum.

Small and personable, you get to step back into the colonial history of this historic colonial town. If you can, experience some of the interpreted tours of Old Town that the Lyceum performs.
