We spend a month in DC each winter going to museums, plays, sporting events, etc. It's our "big city fix" each year. This was our first time at the Signature Theatre and it will now be on our "must do" list each year. While we...More
Just finished seeing Ain’t Misbehavin. OMG what an amazing feet tapping hand clapping show. So much talent amongst these phenomenal cast members. The band was rocking and the pianist was on point. This show is a must, if you miss it see the next performance...More
Our first time at this theater and we were pleasantly surprised. It's an intimate theater - not a bad seat in the house. The stage is surrounded on 3 sides with seating and there's a balcony but the theater is small so wherever you sit...More
I attended Signature's production of Billy Elliott last night with a group of friends. It was beautifully performed by an impressive cast of actors and musicians. Why travel to New York for theatre when the D.C. area has top-notch, world-class entertainment such as this? The...More
I have been a season ticket holder since Signature theater was started. If you like Sondheim, you will like Signature because several Sondheim plays are included each year. You will also begin to recognize some of the actors and appreciate their range of talent. If...More
This cozy theater is a gem! I have been to several productions there. They have been musicals, very ambitious. Each performance has been excellent. No matter where you sit in the audience, there isn't a bad seat in the theater, and you are never far...More
We attended a preview performance of Sondheim's Passion. The performance was very well done. The music and singers were excellent. Unfortunately the plot, like many of Sondheim's musicals, is a bit of a downer.

I was irritated because a trip that should have take 20 minutes took more than 90 minutes because of gawkers on the highway. I ended up having to scarf down my grilled cheese and bacon (tasty but how can toasted cheese and bacon not be...More
What an outstanding play. Excellent acting in an intimate setting. The subject is hard to acknowledge—injustice, racism, hope and despair. The minstrel format made it a little more palatable yet nonetheless hard hitting. Don’t miss it.

The chairs were regular chairs, comfortable enough and no shelf for beverages. Costumes were typical for a play or musical. The theater we were in had a lazy Susan type stage (with half stage behind wall for set changes) and the sets were minimal but fitting for the play we saw. We really enjoyed the play we saw and hope to return in the fall for Crazy for You.
